Charles Idahosa who served as political adviser to Adams Oshiomhole as governor of Edo State and who became the first major politician to fight Governor Godwin Obaseki has given reason for his turnaround and his parting of ways with Oshiomhole.

Speaking during a session with newsmen in Benin, Idahosa poohpoohed claims that he had been bribed to side with Obaseki, questioning why no such claims were made when he fought Tony Anenih, Lucky Igbinedion and until recently, Governor Obaseki.

“A lot of people are not very aware of facts but you know, I fought Anenih, I fought Igbinedion so for anybody to be making insinuation is just a case of not having the clear picture of what happened or trying to just be mischievous.

“When Governor Obaseki started, I knew we were going to have problems and I called leaders and I told them the way this man is going we need to checkmate him, do you know they left me there and went to meet Governor Obaseki that I am plotting against him, then I decided to take the bull by the horn and I attacked him and withdrew my membership of the party. So those working for Oshiomhole, are they working for themselves?

“I don’t listen to such rubbish, nobody queries what Charles Idahosa said but just money; who gave me money when I was fighting Anenih. The same people who say I am working for money say Obaseki don’t give money.”

Giving his insights on the cause of the crisis between Obaseki and Oshiomhole, Idahosa said:

“Politics is a game of give and take there is disagreement there is no doubt about that but I can assure you that everything shall be taken care of by the time we all come to the table.

“You all know the genesis of this problem, over primaries and all the rest of them so as far I am concerned, by the time the committee comes, although we are very opposed to it because we believe that they are biased they have interest but we hope we will settle it and everybody will be happy.

“There is no harm to the party, we will still win the election or are you saying our members will now vote for PDP? No.”
