By Ayodele Oluwafemi

Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland and leader of the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, Otunba Gani Adams has assured non-Yoruba in the Southwest of their safety after the forthcoming inauguration of the regional security taskforce, “Amotekum”.

Aare Adams in an interview said that instead of witch-hunting non-indigenes, the task force would only focus on flushing out criminal elements and make the region safe.

Adams spoke on the African Independent Television, AIT.

“You cannot set up a security taskforce beyond the confines of the Nigeria Police force, as the joint security task force comprises of all security advisers to the South-west governors and all security agencies in Nigeria.

“Amotekum was not set up for tribal war against the non-Yoruba person, the most accommodating region in Nigeria is the South-west region. We accommodate the genuine Fulani people, genuine Igbo people, genuine Hausa people, and other tribes,” he said.
