The age fraud rocking Cameroon Football has continued after 11 of the players called up to replace 21 age cheats in the Under-17 team were discovered to also be cheating on their ages.

GWG.ng reports that the new discovery brought the total number of cheats discovered since the scandal was unveiled to 32.

In an effort to address the growing issue of age fraud in Cameroon Football, Samuel Eto’o, president of the nation’s football association, Fecafoot, demanded that all players chosen for the age-grade team undergo MRI scans to determine the players’ age.

In the initial effort to end the practice of cheating in the age-grade competitions pioneered by the Eto’o, 21 members of the Under-17 squad were disqualified earlier in the week after failing the MRI tests. According to BBC Sport Africa, 11 more players who were called up to replace the original 21 members of the squad have also failed the tests. The tests scan the player’s wrists and measure the growth of their bones to establish their age.

Fecafoot claimed in a statement that Eto’o had given “tight instructions” for the tests to be conducted in order to “put an end to the tampering with civil status records which have, in the past, soiled the reputation of Cameroon football.”

Fecafoot urged everyone especially instructors, to make sure that the age categories were honored in the selection of players as a way of bringing to an end the age fraud that has plagued Cameroon football..
