Gunmen kidnap NTA Reporter, Three Others

A reporter with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Jos, Abdulwab Babankanti and three persons travelling along with him have been kidnapped by gunmen operating along the Bauchi – Jos highway. Babankanti and the other victims were kidnapped on January 30, 2023, in Toro community along the Bauchi to Jos highway, according to a family source.
The source told The State of Plateau news outlet, “We learned of their kidnapping when the kidnappers called to confirm that they had taken them. He added that the kidnappers want N10 million in ransom to release the victims.
Besides the kidnap of the NTA reporter, GWG. ng earlier reported that gunmen in Imo State have killed a policewoman serving in the state. The killing escalates the tension that has gripped the state ahead of the General Election.
The cop identified as Chinyere Obiolor was killed last Wednesday when gunmen ambushed her and her colleagues at Ihitte junction on Owerri- Aba Road in Owerri.
She and her colleagues were said to be on duty when the gunmen in a minibus known as Busimo struck.They were said to have emerged from a nearby bush and opened fire on the police personnel.Also killed was a yet-to-be-identified person said to be a civilian. The female cop was attached to the Highway Patrol team of the state police command.
