S/Court Declares 4th Place Uzodinma Gov Of Imo

The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, invalidated the election of Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo State as it endorsed Senator Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress, APC as the winner of the election.

Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had been declared winner of the election followed by Uche Nwosu of Action Alliance, followed by Senator Ifeanyi Ararume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and Uzodinma who was fourth.

However, the apex court in a unanimous judgment affirmed that Ihedioha was not properly elected and ordered that Uzodinma be returned as winner of the election and be sworn in.

 Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun delivered the lead judgment in the seven man panel that also had the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed.

After the main election the returning officer had declared the following results:

  • Ihedioha – PDP 273,404
  • Nwosu – AA 190,364.
  • Ararume – 114, 676
  • Uzodinma – 96,458
