No More Room For Illiterates In Nollywood – Eucharia Anunobi

Nollywood star actress, pastor, Eucharia Anunobi has said that entry into the industry is now locked against illiterates saying that education has become a requirement for them to be innovative and creative to survive in the industry.  

The award winning actress, while speaking in an interview, on the set of Your View, on TVC noted that the art of movie making has changed and it is imperative for actors and actresses to be schooled in order to understand the various dynamics of movie making.

Anunobi noted that movie making had passed the stage of all comers affairs, stressing that movie scripts are usually written in English Language and it will be relatively impossible for those who are not lettered to understand.

“Over time, I get to be asked by some people when I go to locations around the country that I want to be actor or actress. I tell them, you need education, you need to go to school. Some say, there are some actors/actresses they are not lettered and schooled.

“Let’s come to the bottom of this whole issue, when these actors and actresses came into the profession, it was all-comers affairs. They needed those who can act, but now, if you want to be a game changer, you need to be educated. Our scripts are written in English language, you have to schooled to understand it,” she stated.

Commenting on the relationship between star quality and education, she emphasized that personal development, through learning, is required to enhance star quality, saying that “star quality is a raw material that can be explored through education.”

“you can develop yourself through education, it is not enough to have star quality, it is not enough to have beauty, you need education. It is called polishing,” she stated.
