Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has won his bid for re-election narrowing beating his closest challenger and immediate past chief of air staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar who flew the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

GWG.ng reports that Bala Mohammed who flew the flag of the PDP scored 525,280 to the 432,272 votes polled by Abubakar of the APC.

The returning officer, Prof Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed who has just declared the result said that a total of 1,034, 379 valid votes were cast.

GWG.ng reports that the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed came amid serious challenge from all former governors of the state who were led by the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

The re-election of Govenor Bala Mohammed would be counted as one of the few poltiical battles that Dogara has lost in Bauchi State.

Meanwhile, besides the news of the re-election of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has also declared Gov. Abdullahi Sule and candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of governorship election in Nasarawa State.

Prof Ishaya Tanko, INEC State Collation Officer and Returning Officer made the declaration on Monday in Lafia at the Nasarawa State Collation Centre.

The INEC returning officer said that the APC candidate polled a total of 347, 209 votes to defeats his closest opponent David Ombugadu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 283, 016 votes.

The returning therefore, said:” Abdullahi Sule of APC, having  satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes in the election is hereby declared winner and returned elected”.
