Yes, I Feared Getting Ihedioha’s Treatment – Bala Mohammed
By Our Correspondent
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has gushed how he feared that the Supreme Court judgment on the governorship could have gone against him because of the confidence his challenger, Mohammed Abubakar expressed ahead of the verdict.
Speaking to reporters at a reception to celebrate the victory, the governor also lamented the circumstances of the people of Imo State who he said would be denied the good governance that Emeka Ihedioha had planned for them.
“To be honest, I was scared that the judgement might go the other way because of the overconfidence exhibited by Muhammed Abubakar. I thought he had been given some kind of assurance by some top powers. Though I have faith in the judiciary, I was scared. Abubakar knows I won the election. There’s no way I could have rigged him out. He knows it. But I recognize that it’s his right to seek legal redress to any level as the constitution allows.
“These past months, we’ve not been running the way we should run because of all the legal battles distracting us here and there. You can’t plan well when you know you can be thrown out anytime. See what happened to my friend, Emeka in Imo state. I feel pained because I know all the plans he had mapped out for his people before the incident.”
