Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has readjusted the working ethics of Delta State civil servants through the state of the art secretariat recently commissioned by the government, Mr. Emmanuel Siakpere, director, special projects in the state has said.

Speaking during a media tour of the facilities in the Prof Chike Edozien Secretariat, Mr Siakpere said that workers who were normally uncaring about promptness to work have now become more dedicated because of the ambience of the secretariat.

GWG.ng reports that the secretariat houses 27 of the 29 ministries in the state, a development the Chief Strategist, Dr Festus Okubor said has also greatly reduced the expenditure on rents and other logistics for ministries.

The Prof. Chike Edozien State Secretariat besides the rich décor and tasty finishing has a round the clock internet service, banks, restaurants and a creche that has greatly removed stress for working mothers.

Siakpere, who is the director in charge of the complex said:

“I did not say this because I am in-charge of complex. You can as well meet other civil servants in the state and ask them to rate Governor Okowa.”

“It has saved a lot of cost from paying rents and bringing government business under one roof – 29 ministries operating from the same location.

“It has enhanced the productivity of the civil service as they come early to work and they close late

“The environment is so conducive; you have 24-hour electricity and internet is in place and accessible to all staff.”

According to him because of the good working facilities available productivity of the civil servants has increased as many of them who would normally rush out at the close of work even stay behind to press on with outstanding work.

When the journalists visited the secretariat last Saturday they met some children who were brought by their mothers being attended to by attendants at the modern creche that is on the ground floor of the secretariat complex.

“Mothers that are civil servants can leave their children with us and focus on their work being assured that they are in good hands,” one of the officials said in appreciation to the legacy of the Okowa administration in boosting the productivity of the civil servants.
