Nigerians Chide Mohammed Over Denial Of Social Media Bill

Several Nigerians have resorted to the social media to condemn the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, over his denial that nothing like social media bill is before the National Assembly.
The social media bill was sponsored by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa (Niger APC) and has passed second reading in the Senate.
A bill that had generated public outcry over the perceived intention of the bill to suppress freedom of expression, especially on the social media.
The Minister of Information, in a interview with Deutsche Welle (DW), a German Interview, expressed denial to the existence of the Social media bill, a bill that had passed second reading in the Senate.
Mohammed said: “Who is the author of the bill? I’m not even aware of such bill. There is no such bill before the house, I can say that authoritatively.”
The video of the interview with Tim Sebastian of DW, has appeared on the social media, a development that has sparked outrage.
