As Emefiele Settles For Unknown Future Nigerians Fume Over Conduct Of DSS Operatives

Nigerians are expressing disgust at the conduct of some operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS who rearrested the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, from the Federal High Court premises in Lagos.

Recall that earlier on, the DSS operatives and officials of the Nigeria Correctional Service had engaged in fisticuffs over the custody of the defendant.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court in Lagos had earlier granted Emefiele bail after he was arraigned for illegal firearms possession but the DSS refused to allow the Prison officials to take custody of the former CBN governor as ordered by the court.

@Aajessehalliday: This is a big shame, I can’t even believe what I just watched. The DSS which was once an Elite Institution has now been reduced to ordinary Police officers who can go about fighting on the streets. 🤧🤧🤧 I’m Ashamed of what I just watched.

@chude__: Days ago, the DSS official Twitter handle addressed a lawyer going about his official duty as a “Charge & bail lawyer”, but no word from the NBA regarding this Insult.

Today, the DSS is tussling with the prison service over Emefiele’s custody.

Hope we are paying attention?

What’s the DSS main job?

– Detection and prevention crime, just like the FBI and MI6 but in Nigeria, they’re body guards and a toy for hire for whoever is in charge.

It’s a shame what this department has turned into. A very big shame.

@HonShield: I hear them say Tinubu fought for democracy but here I am watching the DSS desecrate democracy right inside a court premises by going physical against Prison officials and insisting it must whisk Emefiele away against a court order.

@itzlaramiles: When Donald Trump was arrested, did you see FBI & CIA fighting over custody? But in Nigeria, The DSS in a most Disgraceful act, were fighting with Prison Officials over custody of a Godwin Emefiele the court had already granted bail.

Isn’t this Shameful? All under the Tinubu era.
