Spain and Japan women’s teams are the first set of teams to qualify for the 2023 Women’s World Cup currently going on in New Zealand and Australia.

In the game between Spain and African representative, Zambia, the European side dominated the World Cup debutant from start to finish.

Jenni Hermoso and Alba Redondo scored two goals each to ensure that they thrashed the African team after Teresa Abelleira had scored an early-minute opening goal.

After opening their Group C campaign with a 3-0 victory over Costa Rica a week ago, their 5-0 victory over the struggling Zambian side qualified Spain for the round of 16 while Zambia ended their journey in the tournament.

However, before they will travel back to Zambia, they will have to complete their group game against Costa Rica who are also out of the tournament.

On the other hand, Japan proved to be a very good team to beat in the 2023 Women’s World Cup by continuing to dominate games in the group stage.

After beating Zambia 5-0 in their opening Group game, they continued with that form earlier today by beating Costa Rica 2-0.

The two victories mean that both Spain and Japan have secured their qualification from Group C while Zambia and Costa Rica have been eliminated from the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

However, the two teams that have qualified for the round of 16 and the two teams that have been eliminated will face off in the last game of the group stage on July 31.

The outcome of the game would make little or no difference in the fate of the four teams.
