Facebook Storm Over Caution To Nigerian Men Against Kneeling To Propose
By Gideon Ayeni
In a thought-provoking statement, Nelson Igboke, the son of the late HRH Ezeogo Igboke Ewa, a former Ebonyi monarch, has cautioned men against kneeling to propose marriage to their partners.
Nelson shared his perspective on Facebook, suggesting that such a gesture symbolizes a transfer of authority from the man to the woman, albeit unknowingly.
Nelson Igboke, whose father was tragically killed by gunmen on February 27, 2023, expressed his viewpoint on social media. He stated, “Once you kneel to engage a woman or on your wedding day, that’s the day you submitted your authority as a man to her unknowingly; such women don’t make good wives.”
The caution to men against kneeling to propose has sparked discussions about traditional gender roles and perceptions of authority within relationships. While opinions on this matter vary, Nelson’s perspective sheds light on how cultural norms can influence modern expressions of commitment.

@Joseph Ugochukwu: It’s a lie, I knelt down and proposed to my wife and for over 9 years now, she has been respectful and submissive. Your mentality is too low. Try and learn how to accept what you can’t change and also learn how to respect your wife too, biko…..
