Why Capital Market Committee Can’t Meet – SEC
The acting director-general of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, Ms. Mary Uduk has said that the postponement of the apex Capital Market Committee, CMC was because of the impracticability of holding a virtual meeting.
The meeting which was supposed to hold on April 3 was postponed indefinitely on account of the lockdown in Abuja and Lagos she said in an interview.
The postponement was despite the fact that capital market operations have continued albeit virtually, a fact the apex market regulator gave vent to in the same interview with Channels and monitored by GreenWhiteGreen.
Asked why the CMC could not hold given the immense investment made by capital market operators in remote operations, she said:
“The meeting was supposed to hold on 3rd April but could not hold because of the kind of discussion we hold. The way discussions take place there I am not sure that a virtual meeting will be able to take care of the issues to be discussed and that is why we had to postpone it,” she said.
