A Nigerian woman has shared her startling experience of being fired from her job in the UK after repeatedly apologizing to her employer for an alleged offense.
Identified as @deeglam_varieties, the woman took to social media to recount the sequence of events that led to her dismissal and offered a cautionary tale to fellow Nigerians abroad about cultural differences in workplace etiquette.
According to her TikTok video, @deeglam_varieties worked a night shift and spent her time in the office lounge using her phone to stay awake. However, when her employer accused her of sleeping on the job the following day, she opted to apologize profusely instead of explaining the truth.
Despite her repeated apologies, she was shocked to receive an email later that day informing her of her termination from the job. The abrupt dismissal served as a cultural shock, highlighting the contrasts in workplace norms between Nigeria and the UK.
