NNPCL Shocks Nigerians With Time Fuel Scarcity Will End
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPCL) has shocked many Nigerians with the assertion that the current fuel scarcity and queues will not linger beyond Wednesday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, this was disclosed by the Chief Communications Officer of NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, on Tuesday in Lagos.
Mr. Soneye reported that the company currently possesses a surplus of over 1.5 billion liters of product, enough to sustain operations for a minimum of 30 days.
He said, “Unfortunately, we experienced a three-day disruption in distribution due to logistical issues, which has since been resolved.
“However, as you know, overcoming such disruptions typically requires double the amount of time to return to normal operations. Some folks are taking advantage of this situation to maximize profits.
“Thankfully, product scarcity has been minimal lately, but these folks might be exploiting the situation for unwarranted gain. The lines will be cleared out between today and tomorrow,” he assured.
GWG.ng reports that the ongoing fuel scarcity has compounded the energy situation for many Nigerians given the epileptic supply of electricity to their homes and businesses with many having to depend on petrol to power their generators.
