Former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna North Central Senatorial District, has said that the recovery of Kaduna’s looted $350 million World Bank loan cannot be achieved solely through interrogating former Commissioners and Advisers.

He insisted that former Governor Nasir El-Rufai should also be summoned to address questions regarding the loan.

This call comes after Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, successor to Nasir El-Rufai, expressed concerns about inheriting a substantial debt burden from the previous administration, including $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities.

These financial challenges have hindered efforts to meet immediate obligations such as workers’ salaries.

In response, the Kaduna State House of Assembly has pledged to investigate Governor El-Rufai’s administration. However, Shehu Sani stressed on his verified Facebook account that El-Rufai should not be exempt from accountability.

He urged for El-Rufai’s summoning to clarify the whereabouts of Kaduna’s share of Paris refund, Excess Crude funds, Stamp Duties Funds, Ecological Funds, and the billions in loans obtained from the Central Bank and Domestic Banks.

He stated, “All those contractors and useless consultants who absconded with money, and all those who benefited from the misappropriation of Kaduna State properties and are still enjoying themselves, should consider themselves fortunate that it’s not Comrade Shehu Sani who is currently governing the state.”
