Meghan Markle Dragged In As Controversy Trails Remi Tinubu’s Talk On Nude Dressing (video)
A UK Journalist, Dan Wootton, has sparked a controversy online after claiming a statement made by Nigeria’s first lady, Oluremi Tinubu, denouncing nakedness in Nigeria was directed at Meghan Markle following the Duchess’ visit to Nigeria .
Just two weeks after Meghan and Prince Harry’s visit to Nigeria, Oluremi, wife of President Bola Tinubu, made the statement while speaking in Abuja to mark the first anniversary of her husband’s administration.
At the anniversary, she urged teenagers and young people to dress more modestly and reject the scantily-clad styles popularized by US stars.
Senator Remi TInubu said: “We have to salvage our children.
“We see the way they dress. We are not having the Met Gala. And everyone, the nakedness, is just everywhere and the men are well-clothed.
“Tell them we don’t accept nakedness in our culture. That is not beautiful. It’s not beautiful at all.”
While Remi Tinubu didn’t explicitly criticize Meghan Markle, she mentioned the Duchess’s recent visit to Nigeria where Markle emphasized her Nigerian roots, revealing she is 43% Nigerian according to a DNA test.
Remi TInubu said: “Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa? That is something we have to take home with [us]. We know who we are. Don’t lose who you are.”

Foreign publications have now concluded that Remi Tinubu’s speech was directed at the Duchess, who faced backlash for wearing braless and skimpy dresses that revealed sensitive parts of her body, to visit children in a school in Abuja.
In an X post, journalist, Dan Wootton tweeted, “Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa?”Nigeria’s First Lady Remi Tinubu appears to take a swipe following Markle’s recent visit to the country, slamming Hollywood’s culture of nakedness.”

@SabirahLohn said, “Exactly why the president and First Lady did not greet them. They knew that entire visit was about that couple and not the interest of the Nigerian people.
” Then she disrespected them by coming in there walking around half naked and bra less in front of children. She don’t have respect for anyone and I’m so glad she’s being called out on it.”
@Alexand10981 hailed, “The First Lady of Nigeria is my new heroine.”
@S1CT said, “Which woman is empowering girls? Markle: I see myself in you. First Lady of Nigeria: We are fashionable, we are not at the Met gala. Confident Nigerian girls don’t need to mimic film stars from America.”
@Jasmine26956265 said, “I can’t wait to see what they come up with to distract from this colossal PR disaster..”
@yecartback…. “Naked Meghan Markle is no role model, this is not her country, it is your country, be proud.”
@Katri… said “Do us a favor and leave Meghan alone.”
@Barney “Both @WeArelnvictus & Prince Harry need to issue a formal apology forthwith. The government and people of Nigeria are offended. The appalling claims of Mrs Sussex to be a ‘role-model’ is insulting and exploitive of Nigerian culture. Quite reminiscent of colonialism elitism.”
@_Last1 said, “No “appears”, Dan. The First Lady took a massive swipe at Meghan and I’m loving it.”
@MetinaMM2d hailed, “Respect to Nigeria’s First Lady. Ouuucchh!!”
