In response to a viral video showing two EFCC officers manhandling a female hotel worker in Lagos, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered their immediate arrest and a thorough investigation into the incident.

GWG.ng reports that the incident occurred during a sting operation at Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos, which resulted in several arrests. However, the operation was marred by the excessive force used by the officers, who were seen in the viral video assaulting the female hotel worker.

According to eyewitnesses, the EFCC officials invaded the Annex and Regional hotels, both owned by the same person, around 4 am on June 27, while guests were asleep. The officers reportedly fired shots, injured customers, and arrested some persons. Hotel staff alleged that the officials broke into rooms, assaulted guests and workers, and took away ATM cards, money, and phones.

CCTV footage showed officials breaking into the manager’s room, where they were seen pushing and slapping her before taking personal items from a drawer.

As the investigation continues, the public is eagerly awaiting a full report on the incident and the actions taken to address the misconduct of the officers involved.
