Shock As Former Chief Of Defence Staff Passes On

The former chief of defence staff in the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, Admiral Ibrkdead.

The sad announcement of Ogohi’s passing was disclosed by the director of information of defence, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, in a brief statement on Sunday.

As reported in the  Leadership, the statement revealed that the former CDS died in the early hours of Sunday in Abuja. 

The statement read, “With deep sorrow, I announced the death of Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (rtd), a former Chief of Defence Staff (1999-2003). He passed on in Abuja in the early hours of today.”

According to a family source, the late chief of defence staff has been suffering from an old age sickness before his death at his house in Abuja on Sunday.

GWG.ng learnt that Admiral Ogohi is from Okura, Lafia, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State and served as the chief of defence staff from 1999 to 2003 under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Ogohi was the first naval officer to be crowned four stars in the Nigerian military and the chief of defence staff from the navy.
