Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State were on Thursday morning celebrating the judgment of the Federal High Court nullifying the governorship primary that invalidated the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the September election.

GWG.ng reports that the court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo held that the primary held on February 22 failed to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022; the guidelines for the conduct of the poll amd the party’s constitution.

The members who congregated around leaders of the Legacy Group exuded that a just recompense had been served on the party and its leadership over their cries of the hijack of the party.

In one of the videos obtained by GWG.ng party leaders including some of the governorship aspirants were seen congregating around the former deputy governor of the state, Comrade Philip Shaibu celebrating and pouring innuendo.

“GWG, I told you that the PDP will not have a candidate,” a prominent leader of the PDP in Edo State told GWG.ng over the telephone amid pomp as members were celebrating the judgment.

“I will call you later we are celebrating at this moment,” the PDP leader said.

Another PDP official in the Edo State executive said:

“I told Asue that I don’t hate him but that Obaseki (Governor Godwin Obaseki) will mess you up and this is what he has done.”

“We told him. You sit down to take everything including deputy and imagine a party you came in to meet people.

“For me, I don’t have anything against Asue but I have been warning that Obaseki will mess him up and this is what is happening,” the senior party member told GWG.ng just after the judgment.

GWG.ng reports that crisis was fuelled just before the February 22 primary
