Veteran Actor Saidi Balogun Defends Toyin Abraham Amidst Online Bullying

Veteran Nollywood star Saidi Balogun has come out in support of his colleague Toyin Abraham, who has been facing intense online bullying and trolling. Toyin had been accused of instigating the arrest of a troll and detaining his mother, a claim she has denied.

Saidi Balogun took to social media to slam the hypocrisy of those trolling Toyin, pointing out that many people use the police to arrest their neighbors for minor offenses without being labeled bullies. He argued that celebrities should be free to take actions to protect their mental space without being judged.

“Celebrities are human, just like you. You are free to say what you like, right? Let celebrities be free to take whatever actions to protect their mental space. Freedom should not be selective. God bless,” he wrote.

The fight against Toyin has taken a new turn, with some individuals reporting her movies on Netflix and editing her Wikipedia page to label her a bully. A social media user shared a screenshot of a letter to Netflix, urging the platform to boycott her movies and take a stand against bullying.

Saidi Balogun’s support for Toyin Abraham comes as a welcome respite amidst the silence of many of their colleagues.
