A young and promising footballer, Chisom Oodo, tragically passed away on Sunday from a suspected cardiac arrest during a football training session in Ogrute, the headquarters of Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu State.

Chisom, who was in his early 20s, collapsed while contesting for the ball with an opponent during a routine training exercise. The incident occurred shortly after he traveled from his hometown, Aji, located in the same local government area, to participate in the training.

The late Chisom’s exceptional talent was first noticed during the Enugu-Ezike Football Tournament last Christmas, where he showcased remarkable skills on the field. His impressive performance had caught the eye of a football scout, earning him a selection for a potential move to Europe. According to reports, his passport and visa were already prepared, and he was set to embark on a journey that could have seen him achieve his dreams.

Franklin Onyeoma, a fan of the late Chisom Oodo, shared that the tragic news has cast a shadow of grief over the entire community, which had been eagerly anticipating the young footballer’s bright future.

The sudden loss of Chisom Oodo has left his family, friends, and the local community in deep sorrow as they mourn the untimely death of a rising star.
