The management of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State, has denied claims linking the institution to the incident involving the body of a female student found at a refuse dump site.

This was contained in a statement by the Information Officer of the institution, Femi Afolayan, in Ilorin on Wednesday in reaction to the claims of the police on the issue.

GWG.ng recalls that Mojisola Awesu, a student at Kwara State College of Health Technology, was found dead at a refuse dump after allegedly being lured by students of Al-Hikmah University to a party under false pretenses to act as a girlfriend for N15,000. Police have arrested several suspects and are investigating the case.

The statement reads in part; ā€œthe attention of the Al-Hikmah University has been drawn to a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer to the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya on the above subject.

ā€œThe reference to Al-Hikmah University in the release was made by the suspect who must have used the name of the University to lure the girl to achieve his devilish act.

ā€œConsequently, we need to clarify that at no time did students of Al-Hikmah University organise such a party as falsely claimed by the culprit.

ā€œThis clarification becomes imperative to assure parents, guardians and the University community of the safety of all our students throughout their stay on our campuses,ā€ the statement declared.
