Controversy Over Alleged N70m Fund For Bobrisky’s 3-Month Prison Spell

Social media activist Verydarkman has strongly criticized celebrities who donated millions of naira to fund support for controversial crossdresser Bobrisky during his time in prison.

Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse, was released on August 5, 2024 following which it has emerged that some celebrities contributed over N70m to fund his 3 months in jail.

Following his release, he took to Instagram to express his gratitude to several celebrities, including Don Jazzy, Eniola Ajao, Victor Osimhen, Funke Akindele, Sotayo Gaga, Tonto Dikeh, and Biodun Okeowo, who reportedly contributed millions of naira to support him.

GWG.ng had reported how Bobrisky came out of prison fattened up unlike many others who come out of prison disheveled.

In a series of Instagram story posts, Very Dark Man condemned these celebrities, questioning their priorities. He highlighted that while they were quick to donate to fund Bobrisky in prison, that they have not shown the same enthusiasm for addressing critical issues such as building boreholes in communities lacking clean water or providing educational support for children who don’t have basic school facilities.

“Y’all contributed over 70 million naira to a crossdresser but can’t help build boreholes for communities without clean water or provide chairs for schools where children have nowhere to sit,” he said. He went on to suggest that there might be more to their relationship with Bobrisky, questioning whether they were involved in other activities with the crossdresser, such as being pimped to top politicians.

The tension between Verydarkman and Bobrisky is not new and this prison fund is not exceptional. Earlier in the year, Verydarkman was detained after accusing senior police officers of being involved in same-sex relationships and alleging that Bobrisky was involved with top lawmakers. The feud between the two escalated when Bobrisky celebrated Verydarkman’s arrest, and Very Dark Man did the same when Bobrisky was detained.

Verydarkman was one of the most vocal advocates for Bobrisky’s arrest, even going so far as to file a petition against him for allegedly engaging in same-sex acts on social media. In response, Bobrisky made serious allegations against Verydarkman, claiming to have access to a sex tape involving the activist and accusing him of being involved in sexual activities with wealthy men in Lagos.

The ongoing public spat between the two continues to draw attention on social media, as both parties trade accusations and criticisms.
