Tinubu’s Right Hand Man Goes On Indefinite Leave
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and the Official Presidential Spokesperson, has announced his decision to take an indefinite leave of absence from his official duties, citing pressing family health concerns.
Ngelale made the decision on leave known in a memo addressed to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Friday. He explained that the decision followed intense family consultations over the past few days, as a worsening medical situation at home required his immediate attention.
“This agonising decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home,” Ngelale stated in the leave letter.
The leave will affect Ngelale’s multiple roles within the administration. In addition to stepping down as the Presidential Spokesperson, he will also temporarily leave his posts as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.
Ngelale acknowledged the gravity of his duties and the timing of his departure, adding, “While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonising decision was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days.”
Although the duration of his absence is currently undefined, Ngelale expressed hope for a return to his responsibilities once his family’s medical concerns are resolved.
“I look forward to returning to full-time national service when time, healing, and fate permit,” he said in conclusion.
Ngelale’s indefinite leave comes at a critical time for the administration, but his commitment to returning when circumstances allow highlights his dedication to both his family and the nation.
