Hardship: Businessman Exonerates Politicans, Casts Blame (Video)

A Nigerian businessman has expressed frustration over the sudden increase in the price of spaghetti packs, criticizing his fellow traders for exploiting high demand to inflate prices.

Speaking on the incident, he explained that the price of a pack of spaghetti had been stable at ₦18,500 to ₦18,700 just a day earlier. However, upon noticing a large crowd of buyers, the price was suddenly raised to ₦19,500 for the same product.

“They were selling at ₦18,500/₦18,700, but once they saw the crowd, they increased it to ₦19,500 for the same truckload. How is that the fault of the politicians?” he asked, highlighting the issue of opportunistic pricing.

He further lamented that while many are quick to blame the government for economic challenges, ordinary Nigerians are often part of the problem. “We are the ones doing this to ourselves in this country,” he added.

The businessman went on to note that such behavior isn’t limited to a few but is widespread across different sectors. “If they can do it, I’ll sell mine at ₦27,000,” he said, sarcastically alluding to how price hikes are justified without reason other than sheer opportunism.

His outcry sheds light on the ongoing struggle with inflation and price manipulation in Nigeria, where consumers often bear the brunt of these exploitative practices, regardless of government policies.
