Enugu, the Coal City capital, was thrown into panic on Saturday night following the assassination of Mr. Stephen Aniagu, Chairman of the Ogbete Market Amalgamated Traders’ Association (OMATA).

Aniagu, who headed the largest market in Enugu State, was reportedly gunned down by suspected assassins in the Topland Area of the city. The attackers fled the scene after making away with his vehicle.

A chilling video circulating on social media shows Aniagu’s lifeless body riddled with bullets, as shocked residents gathered around in disbelief.

As of the time of this report, the Enugu State Police Command has not released an official statement regarding the incident. The killing has heightened concerns over safety in the city as residents await further updates on the tragic event.
