Last weekend, from September 14 to 15, several Nigerian players abroad made notable contributions for their clubs. Here are some highlights:

Ademola Lookman was particularly impressive, making his first Serie A appearance for Atalanta this season. He scored a goal and provided an assist in Atalanta’s 3-2 victory over Fiorentina.

In France, Moses Simon assisted for Nantes, while Akor Adams played the entire game for Montpellier.

In Germany, Frank Onyeka marked his debut for Augsburg with an assist in their 3-1 win against St. Pauli.

In England, Josh Maja assisted West Bromwich Albion’s 2-0 win over Portsmouth, and Semi Ajayi played a key role in helping his team secure their fourth win of the season.

Cyriel Dessers provided an assist in Rangers’ victory over Dundee United, and Wilfred Ndidi stood out for Leicester with two assists.

In Spain, Rasheedat Ajibade was an unused substitute for Atletico Madrid Women in their 2-1 win, marking the start of their season.

On Saturday, September 14, Ola Aina was a top performer for Nottingham Forest in their 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield. He played the full 90 minutes and made a crucial goal-line clearance to deny Luis Diaz. Despite Liverpool’s strong play, Nottingham Forest secured the win with a spectacular goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi. Taiwo Awoniyi, Aina’s teammate, was an unused substitute.

In another match, Tom Dele-Bashiru helped Watford secure a 1-1 draw against Coventry City in the Championship with a well-taken goal.

Victor Boniface also stood out in the German Bundesliga, scoring two goals and providing an assist in Bayer Leverkusen’s 4-1 win over Hoffenheim. His performance was key in helping the team recover from a previous suspension.

In Spain, Gift Monday and Rinsola Babajide played pivotal roles in UD Tenerife’s 4-1 win against Sevilla. Monday scored two goals and added an assist, while Babajide scored with a long-range shot.

In Belgium, Yira Sor delivered an outstanding performance, scoring a goal and providing two assists in Genk’s thrilling 3-2 win at Cercle Brugge.

Meanwhile, in Turkey, Victor Osimhen had a remarkable debut, making seven shots on goal—a Turkish Super Lig record. He also provided an assist in Galatasaray’s 5-0 victory over Rizespor.
