Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has officially declared his intention to run for president in the 2027 election.

Makinde’s supporters have set the social media on fire as they have begun rallying around his candidacy with the hashtag MakindeForPresident trending across social media platforms.

Currently hosting a gathering of members from the PDP press corps in Ibadan, Governor Makinde is showcasing his administration’s key projects across the southwest region. This event is seen as part of his efforts to solidify his position within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a frontrunner for the presidency.

Notably, in a now deleted post on X, the official social media handles of the PDP have also adopted the #MakindeForPresident hashtag while sharing images and videos of Makinde’s signature achievements, signaling broader party support for his campaign.

Governor Makinde has long been viewed as a potential candidate for Nigeria’s top office, and with this declaration, his campaign for the presidency is now in full swing, positioning him as a leading figure in the race for 2027.
