Anglican Priest Kidnapped At Church Entrance

An Anglican priest, Ven. David Arinze Ajaefobi, who serves as the Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry and the Vicar of Saint James’ Parish in Awkuzu, Anambra State, has reportedly been kidnapped.

Sources indicate that the abduction took place on Saturday evening, around 9:00 PM, near the entrance gate of St. James’ Parish in Awkuzu, located in Oyi Local Government Area.

As of now, there has been no communication from the kidnappers, who have neither requested a ransom nor given any reason for his capture.

The church has since called for prayer sessions, urging members to pray for his safe return.

When asked for a response, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, said that the police have not yet received an official report regarding the incident from either the church or the priest’s family.

Meanwhile, the kidnap of Ajaefobi came as the Delta Police Command said it had arrested a former legislative member of Ndokwa West Local Government of Delta for an alleged attempted kidnap of a prominent woman in Abbi community

The command Spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe said, in a statement on Sunday in Asaba, that the former councillor was arrested following discreet intelligence gathering by police operatives.

According to Edafe, the DPO, Abbi Division, CSP Florence Onum received credible intelligence report that the former lawmaker is planning to kidnap a prominent member of Abbi community.
