Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, has come under fire after a viral video showed him physically assaulting an Uber driver at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.

Ikwechegh, who represents the Aba North & South Federal Constituency, was seen slapping the driver multiple times during a heated altercation, sparking widespread outrage and demands for accountability.

According to reports, the confrontation began when the driver requested that Ikwechegh come outside to personally receive his delivery. The driver stated that the lawmaker took offense at the request, perceiving it as disrespectful to his status. In the footage, Ikwechegh can be seen angrily berating and cursing the driver before slapping him repeatedly. The lawmaker was reportedly incensed by what he deemed an inappropriate demand for him to step out of his residence.

The tension escalated further, with the lawmaker allegedly threatening the driver, boasting that he could make him “disappear” without any consequences. A second video circulating online showed the driver sitting shirtless in his car, claiming that Ikwechegh had torn his clothes during the incident.

Critics have expressed concerns over the apparent disregard for basic decency and respect, questioning whether those in power believe they are above the law. One Twitter user wrote, “A public servant treating an innocent citizen like this is unacceptable. Hon. Alex Ikwechegh should face the consequences of his actions.”

As the controversy unfolds, there has been no official response from Ikwechegh or his representatives regarding the incident. However, calls for investigations and disciplinary measures continue to grow louder.

Reactions trailing video of Hon. Alex Ikwechegh assaulting Uber driver;

MayJaYBaE: “He said he’d make him disappear in Nigeria and nothing will happen on top say make he come collect item. He felt he disrespected him. A simple please bring in inside the house, just normal courtesy. He felt an ordinary Bolt driver should lick his ass. Stupid classism.”

ChuksOhaxx: “God don butter this guy bread.. find better lawyer and sue that man joor. Life changing opportunity with evidence. Lmao.”

Seankleann: “Even if he sues for assault, as a member of House of Representatives, I dont think the @PoliceNG will do justice to this case. I strongly doubt the outcome favoring that Uber Driver, do you know why? Bcos he’s a NOBODY. Just watch how the matter would be swept under the carpet.”

HeDontMakeNoise: “I will make you dissappear and nothing will happen” ke??? This is enough to ruin his political career permanently but… You can already see ret@rded Nigerians, who are so in love with their chains, trying to justify these shameful actions.”
