Asari Dokudo Tinubu Wike Rivers State

Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has accused President Bola Tinubu of backing former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in efforts to disrupt the peace in Rivers State.

Governor Fubara has been in conflict with Wike since taking office in 2023 with claims of a struggle for power within the state.

During an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday, Dokubo expressed his frustration over the ongoing turmoil in Rivers State. He warned that if the governor were to be impeached, there could be serious consequences.

“I want to tell President Bola Tinubu the truth about what’s happening in Rivers State. He is supporting Nyesom Wike to cause instability and disturb the peace. As a stakeholder in Rivers, I am deeply disappointed that the president allows his minister to act recklessly and threaten the people,” Dokubo said.

He added, “They want to remove Fubara and think nothing will happen. But I am warning that if you try to remove him, something will definitely happen. I’m not speaking for personal gain; I’m not seeking any ministerial position or board appointment.”

When asked if he still believes he should be held accountable if President Tinubu fails to meet expectations, Dokubo replied, “I still stand by that statement. I feel responsible for the hopes of all Nigerians, not just those from the Niger Delta. I openly supported Tinubu, and I won’t deny my words. Even if Tinubu faces difficulties tomorrow, I will defend him. He stood by me during a time when my life was in danger, and I owe him that loyalty.”
