Operatives from the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, have arrested a 20-year-old man named Friday Akinmade for allegedly killing a 65-year-old woman in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Council Area in Ondo State.

Akinmade reportedly struck the woman on the head with a plank after accusing her of stealing N3,000 from his room. The commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, announced the arrest while presenting Akinmade alongside other suspects at the corps’ headquarters in Akure.

Adeleye also mentioned that a 21-year-old suspect was apprehended for attempted murder. He said, “What the security situation has enumerated is telling us that, as a result of the harsh economic situation we have in the country, there are more cases of housebreaking.”

He highlighted additional arrests, including a 30-year-old man involved in acts of vandalism, cultism, and attempted murder of law enforcement officers. Another suspect, a 42-year-old named Gbenro, attacked Amotekun officers while trying to escape from his criminal activities.

Adeleye continued, “We equally have Samuel Peter, a 21-year-old man, who engaged in an attempted murder, and one Akimade Friday, who outrightly murdered and killed a 65-year-old woman. This is a 20-year-old boy.”

Additionally, they arrested a 20-year-old named Segun Owolabi for stealing motorcycles and robbing their owners. Adeleye noted that they have a gang that specializes in burglarizing homes, especially when the owners are away. This gang includes members named Toba, Pelumi, Ogumade, and Oriade, aged between 22 and 25. There is also Shegwo Yusuf, who is involved in damaging household property.
