Delta Lawmaker Suspended

The Delta State House of Assembly has suspended Hon Chukudi Dafe, the representative of Ukwuani Constituency, over allegations of serious misconduct.

GWG.ng reports that Dafe was suspended from the Delta Assembly for 14 legislative days. The motion for the suspension was introduced by the Majority Leader, Engr. Emeka Nwaobi, who represents Aniocha North, and was seconded by the Chief Whip, Hon. Perkins Umukoro.

The motion passed quickly, but no details were given regarding the specific accusations against Dafe sparking controversy across the political spectrum as to the reason for the suspension.

According to Daily Trust, some lawmakers have expressed dissatisfaction with the way the Assembly’s leadership has managed internal disciplinary actions.

Although there have been calls for more transparency, the leadership of the Delta Assembly has not released any details about the alleged wrongdoing for which Dafe was suspended. This has fueled public speculation and raised concerns about deeper political intrigues within or around the Assembly.

The suspension has ignited discussions within Delta State’s political scene. Many are urging the Assembly to be more open about its proceedings, stressing that accountability and transparency are crucial for maintaining public trust in the legislative body.
