How Former YouTuber Jake Paul Pummelled, Disgraced Mike Tyson
Mike Tyson’s return to the boxing ring on Friday ended in a clear defeat as Jake Paul, a YouTuber-turned-prizefighter, secured a unanimous decision victory over the heavyweight legend.
The match took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where Paul dominated the eight-round contest.
Tyson, now 58, struggled throughout the fight and landed very few punches. The judges’ scorecards reflected Paul’s dominant performance, with scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73. Using his younger age, faster speed, and better movement, the 27-year-old Paul controlled the fight and put Tyson in trouble during the third round with a series of punches.
Despite his control of the match, Paul did not manage to deliver the knockout blow he had promised. This promise followed a tense moment during Thursday’s weigh-in when Tyson slapped Paul in the face. However, in the actual fight, Tyson’s age showed, and he could only land a few significant punches.
Statistics from the fight revealed that Tyson connected with just 18 out of 97 punches, while Paul threw 278 punches and landed 78 of them.
As the final moments of the eighth round wound down, Paul even bowed in respect to Tyson before the closing bell.
