The Unity Advocacy Group, UAG, on Monday said the Armed Forces of Nigeria used the recently concluded Africa Military Games, AMGA 2024 to market Nigeria.

UAG stated this in a press briefing in Abuja, where the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa and the AFN received kudos for sending a strong message that the country is safe for visitors.

UAG Convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion who spoke on behalf of the Group said it was also opportunity to strengthen cooperation with other countries in fighting various forms of security challenges.

He said the games surpass so many of international standards, especially with the manner it was organised, describing it as reminiscence of good old days the country hosted sporting events

The UAG joined Nigeria’s National Ambassador for Sports Diplomacy, Segun Odegbami to describe the games as ground breaking moment for Nigeria’s sports development, describing the event as a bold step toward reversing decades of neglect and underachievement in the sector.

The group said the turnout of 21 countries is an indication that the participating countries believe in the Continental leadership capacity of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

According to UAG “The Armed Forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Chris Musa through AMGA 2024 has sent a very strong message that Nigeria is safe to come and do business.

“Through AMGA 2024, the AFN will also strengthen cooperation with other countries in fighting various forms of security challenges.

“AMGA 2024 made us begin to remember good old days Nigeria hosted international sporting events.

“The AFN not only hosted, but won. We salute the CDS who said that the Nigerian Military will continue to recruit and develop sportsmen who will go on to win more laurels and medals for the country.”
