Peter Obi Gives Fresh Directive Amid Arrest Rumours
By Gideon Ayeni
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has directed supporters to dismiss circulating rumours about his alleged arrest, calling them unfounded and deceptive.
Peter Obi took to social media on Wednesday evening to debunk the arrest claims, confirming that he was at his residence in Onitsha. He urged his supporters and the public to ignore the misinformation.
Obi’s clarification came amid an ongoing dispute with Felix Morka, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), over recent allegations involving death threats following Obi’s critical New Year message.
Referring to similar false reports in 2024, Peter Obi reminded the public of a previous rumour where he was falsely accused of being arrested and detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) while in Rwanda. He described these recurring falsehoods as deliberate attempts to divert attention from the nation’s pressing issues.
Obi reiterated his commitment to addressing matters of national interest and encouraged Nigerians to remain focused on advocating for progress and good governance.
GWG.ng reports that prior to the arrest rumours that the APC’s Morka had taken Peter Obi to task with his strong denunciation of the assertions of death threats directed at the Labour Party leader who he had earlier accused of crossing the line.
