2025 JAMB Registration: How Parents Can Help Their Children
By Augustine Adah
The Joint Admission Matriculation Board, (JAMB) has fixed January and February for candidates who are aspiring to gain admission into tertiary institution to fulfil the registration process for the examinations and it is the duty of every parent to guide his or her ward through the process.
Though it is the responsibility of students to complete the JAMB-UTME registration process, the parents have a role to play. Here are ways parents can assist in the registration exercise.
Know the registration procedure
Before you can successfully register for the examination, you must understand the process. It includes preparing a JAMB profile, e-pin, and completing the registration at an accredited CBT center and the parents must supervise this process.
Provision of necessary documents
One of the causes of delayed registration is the inability to provide the necessary documents at the right time. The assistance of the parent is needed at this juncture to facilitate early registration.
Some of the needed documents are, National Identity Number (NIN), functional e-mail, and phone number. Others are, JAMB profile code generated through SMS and O’ level results like GCE, NECO, or WAEC
Help your child choose the right institution
Choosing the right course and institution is one of the important steps during JAMB registration. Many students make mistakes because they don’t have proper guidance.
Ensure the correct subject combination
Every course has its own subject combination and a wrong subject combination can lead to disqualification or denial of admission. If you don’t understand very clearly, you may seek guidance from a consultant or a more experienced person.
Give your child the needed financial support
Your child need money for JAMB form, e-pin, textbooks and other materials and it is the duty of the parent to help out in this aspect of the registration. JAMB registration is done at an accredited CBT and the parent should assist in taking the child to the right CBT.
