Man 54, Arraigned For Raping 13-Year Old Girl

A Makurdi Magistrate Court on Monday arraigned a 54-year-old businessman, Alhaji Sani Hashimu for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in Makurdi metropolis, Benue State.
The police prosecuting counsel, Inspector Juliana Edache told the court that the accused, Alhaji Sani Hashimu of number 54 Bauchi street, Wadata area of Makurdi metropolis had on the 12th of July 2020 at about 9:00 a.m. forcefully held and dragged the victim into his room and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The police prosecuting counsel further told the court that, on that fateful day ,the victim was on her way to Wadata market to sell groundnut, saying It was on her way to the market that the accused forcefully dragged her into his room and allegedly raped her.
When the case came up, no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction while investigation is ongoing and the prosecuting counsel requested for a new date.
Counsel to the accused , B.A Abdulsalam Esq did not oppose the application for a new date, but, however, told the court that he will apply for the bail of his client.
The presiding magistrate, Mr. Isaac Ajim adjourned the case to 9th October 2020 for further mention while the accused would be remanded at the federal Correctional Service in Makurdi.
