After Faux Pas Lawan Appoints Awoniyi Media Adviser
By Editor
After a faux pas in the appointment of a media adviser, the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan has appointed a substantive Special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi.
Awoniyi’s appointment followed the storm that followed the earlier appointment of Dr Festus Adedayo which was subsequently withdrawn on the claim that he criticized President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC in his writings.
APC activists had taken to social media to condemn the appointment as a slight on the party and its members, a development that forced Lawan to withdraw the appointment to Dr. Adedayo.
Special Assistant to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, Mohammed Isa in a statement announcing the appointment of Awoniyi also disclosed the appointment of Karage Mohammed Mamman as his Deputy Chief of Staff
Other appointments made included that of Abubakar Sidiq Usman as Special Assistant on New Media, Kabir Adamu as Special Adviser on Security and Intellegence, and Muhammad Mukhtar Yawale as Special Adviser on Health.
Until his appointment, Awoniyi was the bureau chief of Agence France-Press (AFP).
