The Lagos State Police Command will on Friday arraign a woman who locked a young boy in a dog’s cage on the charge of child abuse.

The lady, Onyinye Mbadike, 24, who was caught on camera locking a boy inside a dogs’ cage has confessed to being the lady.

In a viral video circulated over the social media and seen by GWG, Onyinye was seen beating a young boy and afterward locking him inside the dogs’ cage. The video which generated public outcry had seen Nigerians calling on the Nigeria Police Force to trail and arrest the lady in the video.

The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos Police Comand, Zone 2 Dolapo Badmus, in a statement, disclosed that the young boy in the video is an orphan, and a cousin to the arrested Onyinye, noting that the boy has been provided with a conducive shelter.

The incident was said to have occurred at Aguda, Lagos State, contrary to reports that it took place in Nsukka, Enugu State.

The statement confirming the arrest read thus: “The Gender Unit traced the suspect to Chumpe Liquor Store, Surulere and her residence at Aguda.

“The suspect admitted that she is the one on the viral video flogging the child with a belt, but she denied locking the survivor in a cage with dogs. That she only locked him in an empty dog kennel where bags are kept.

“She claimed to have locked up the Boy for a few hours before bringing him out. She alleged that the boy took a hot drink in their refrigerator and was misbehaving.

“That he smashed the side mirror of her Toyota Camry with stone which made her detain him in the dog kennel. Investigation revealed that the survivor lost his parents and was brought to Lagos in 2012 from Anambra.”
