Minister of Communication, Alhaji Adebayo Shittu has said that he is not the only public office holder without the discharged certificate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Minister was disqualified from contesting the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries in Oyo State because he does not have the NYSC discharged certificate.

But the Minister, who was yet to overcome the shock if his disqualification said he is not the only person who is in public office or seeking for public office who does not have discharged certificate

According to him, he was only made sacrificial lamb as the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi do not have the mandatory NYSC discharged Certificates.

Also mentioned by Shittu, who are in the government service without NYSC discharged certificates are: Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Abubakar, opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Hon. Razak Atunwa, govetnor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu, governor of Jigawa State, Badaru Abubakar and Senator Sola Adeyeye.

In the message sent to New Telegraph, Shittu said, “None of the above ever participated in NYSC program, yet it was convenient to make Adebayo Shittu the sacrificial lamb.

The National chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who spoke on Shittu’s disqualification said that the party could not afford to allow somebody who did not participate in the one year mandatory Youth Service to fly the flag of the party.

Shittu is in court contesting the legality of the Oyo State APC state congresses.

The issue of the NYSC discharged certificate led to the resignation of the former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.

Adeosun was said to have forged her NYSC exemption certificate.

The Minister resigned last month after a long media trial.
