Army Says It Has Identified Killers Of Army General

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said that it had identified the masterminds of the killing of a retired army general, Major General Idris Alakali in the Jos area of Plateau State.

The head of the Army Search and Rescue Team, Brigadier General Umar Mohammed, disclosed this in Jos while parading 13 persons arrested by the army of having knowledge of the masterminds. The 13 arrested persons he, however, said were not directly involved.

General Idris Alikali was travelling through Jos when he met he disappeared. His car was found in a pond in Dura Du, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

“It is pertinent to state that all the actors involved in this criminal act who are still at large are known to us, efforts are being intensified to get them arrested as their photographs and personal details are with the relevant security agencies,”he said.

“Those who heard and saw the criminals that stopped the retired senior officer, and those who pushed his vehicle into the pond but failed to report these criminal act to the security agencies,”he said.

“A cordon and search operation was also conducted in the community and some people were apprehended. They were moved to the barracks where they were screened, profiled and interrogated.”
