Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has denied speculations of a secret accord between him and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to deliver his state to the PDP and stop his party’s candidate, Muammadu Buhari from a second term.

The governor in a statement issued on Tuesday also denied meeting Atiku in Dubai.

The governor in a statement signed by his  Director, Strategic Communications and Press Affairs, Yakubu Laimai, “the governor has never at any given time held a closed-door meeting in Dubai, UAE with PDP’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar over 2019 general elections as published by an online media in the state”, the statement added.

The statement was issued to douse rife speculations that the governor was in league with some others to help deliver the state to the PDP and ensure the presidential aspiration of Atiku Abubakar.

“The claims that governor Tanko Al-Makura has agreed to work for Atiku Abubakar to ensure he wins the presidential polls in Nasarawa state is not only a fallacy, distractions and attempts to sow seeds of discord in APC and President Muhammadu Buhari, but a plan by the opposition to destroy the hard earned good records of the governor’s achievement  in the state”.

“We shall not honour  baseless  propaganda with a reply as it is a well- known fact that  that the publications by the online media is nothing other than  a purveyor and conduit pipe for fake news and propaganda whose corporate goal  is to instigate public acrimony and political confusion in our state”, the statement declared.

“As the election cycle draws near,  we shall not allow fake news thrive in Nasarawa State  in this era when the Federal Government is waging a vigorous campaign against fake news”
