WASC Result: Move To Stop Buhari Commences In Court

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has been called upon to ban President Muhammadu Buhari from participating in next year’s presidential election upon the claim that he lacks the basic educational qualification for the office.

The suit was brought by the Chairman of Action Peoples Party APP, Imo Ugochinyere who is also the spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

Besides the suit, Ugochinyere also on Thursday alleged a plot by some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, APC working with some associates of the president to tamper with the result and upload a doctored computer generated result for Buhari.

In his court case, Ugochinyere deposed that the rules on the qualification to contest political offices should not be bent for anybody.

The applicant is also asking the court to urge WAEC to present the Certified True Copy of the ledger of all the students of the Provincial Secondary School Katsina who sat for the 1961 examination with Buhari.

He also wants INEC to nullify the publication of President Buhari’s name as a candidate for the 2019 election because he lacks the basic qualification required for the office.

Meanwhile, Ugochinyere in a statement issued on Thursday, raised the alarm over an alleged attempt by officials of the APC to doctor with the WAEC records with the intent of generating doctored results for Buhari in a way to hoodwink the public.

The opposition chieftain thus called on WAEC “to preserve their age long integrity by resisting any move to doctor the results of students who sat for the 1961 exam”.

“This desperate last minute attempt by the APC leadership is to avert the disgrace and humiliation their candidate will suffer at the ongoing law suit which they have no defense.”
