Ganduje dollar video

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje on Friday failed to present himself for investigations to the Kano State House of Assembly committee investigating the allegations of bribery leveled against him.

The governor has been widely ridiculed in at least four leaked video tapes in which he is seen collecting bundles of $100 notes from contractors.

Following his summon yesterday the governor sent his commissioner for information, Mallam Muhammad Garba who sat for him at the investigative hearing.

The commissioner who came with the governor’s counsel did not explain why the governor chose not to attend personally, though it was explained that the letter of invitation to the governor gave him the option of sending someone to represent him.

The commissioner did not answer questions but just read a prepared statement thus:
“That His Excellency the governor of Kano state categorically and unequivocally denied the allegation of collecting bribe from contractors as alleged by the publisher of the online newspaper Daily Nigerian.

“That His Excellency the governor of Kano state did not collect, has not collected and will never collect bribe from anybody whosoever and for whatever purposes.

“That the allegation leveled against him is injurious falsehood designed purposely to tarnish his long established good reputation, reduce his popularity for some political opponents to take undue advantage in the forthcoming general election.

“That caution should be exercised in handling this allegations putting into consideration the antecedents of the accuser on similar accusations against leaders and ruler in the state, particularly the allegation made against the former governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, and the Sarkin Kano Malam Muhammadu Sunusi II which turned out to be false accusations. ”

Following the statement, the commissioner was excused and no questions were posed to him.

Following him, the committee received the Attorney General of the state Mukhtar Ibrahim. He pleaded with the legislature to urge the media to be cautious in the reportage of the issue.
