Ogboru appointment

Erstwhile All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential contender, Alhaji Mumakai Unagha, has called on the party leadership to replace Chief Great Ogboru as the party’s governorship candidate for Delta State, saying that he is in no position to defeat the incumbent, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Unagha who has in the past tackled Oshiomhole called on him to resign or in the alternative change his ways failing which he said the party would suffer a major defeat in Delta State.

He said:

“I wish to call on the Adams Oshiomhole- led National Working Committee of APC to reconsider the governorship ticket of Delta state to the Delta North if the party wants to takes over Delta state come 2019.”

“Let me warn that the NWC should not impose or foist Great Ogboru on the party. APC risks losing Delta state should the party ignores this advice. Chief Great Ogboru cannot defeat the incumbent for now, following the ‘gentlemen agreement’ of the rotation within the three senatorial districts,” he said.

“If Ogboru must contest; he should wait for 2023 when the Delta North may have completed their second tenure of eight years.”

“For now, it will be impossible for Great Ogboru to defeat Okowa, the only way the APC can be victorious is to feild a Delta North candidate. Yes, Ogboru is popular, but the party should allow the dust created by the Adams Oshiomhole to subside before any candidate from other senatorial districts.”
