Tinubu Reappears As Buhari Makes Another Gaffe

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu reappeared on the Muhammadu Buhari campaign train on Tuesday suppressing rumours that he had abandoned the campaign he was only recently appointed to lead.

Tinubu made a bold reappearance at the Akure, Ondo presidential rally just as President Buhari again made another gaffe saying that he was inaugurated as president in 2005.

Tinubu who Buhari made co-chairman of the Presidential Campaign with himself had been delegated to lead the presidential campaign. At the inauguration of the campaign council, Buhari had said that he would not allow the campaign to distract him from governance and that Tinubu would lead the campaign.

After showing some initial enthusiasm Tinubu had lately stayed away from the campaign sparking rumours that he had become disillusioned over the prospects of Buhari winning a second term.

That speculation was especially fanned by opposition operatives in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“You can see that even Tinubu has abandoned him,” one senior PDP operative told gwgng.com.

Another operative said that Tinubu gave the recent political crisis in Lagos between the State House of Assembly and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as his excuse for staying away from the presidential campaign.

Some others had alleged that the national leader was in bad health on account of the stress of the campaign.

However, all such speculations ceased on Tuesday, at least for a season after Tinubu made a bold appearance at the Akure campaign on Tuesday.

As usual, the APC leader was boisterous blasting the PDP for raising issues with the credibility of the forthcoming General Election.

“The PDP claimed that APC was planning to rig election. How can you rig an election that has not been conducted?

“This is a clear fact that the PDP was preparing for failure. The PDP has admitted its loss of the election even before the election is conducted.”

Meanwhile, President Buhari committed another gaffe at the Akure rally when he said he came into office in 2005.

Saying he was conscious of his efforts to resolve the issues in the country, Buhari said:

“We are very conscious of the promises we made when we were coming in 2005.”

The video of what he said has since been trending online.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who is engaged in a sharp political battle with Tinubu over the political control of the state put aside their differences to project Buhari.

He assured the president that the APC would win the state noting that the party was able to grab the state from the PDP when the PDP was in control of the Federal Government.

“In 2015 when the state was not under the control of the APC we won, how much more now that we are in control of the state?

“President Buhari should go and sleep as he is winning the election by the grace of God,” the governor said.
