Leaders Warn Amaechi Against Provoking Violence In Ogoni Land

Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders in Ogoni land on Friday warned the Minister of Transportation against what they claimed as alleged moves by him and some of his associates to cause mayhem in Ogoni land on Election Day.

The elders under the aegis of the Igoni Ethnic Nationality in a statement issued by its secretary, Dr. Baribe Yorko alleged that the group had become aware of a collaboration between the minister and some military officials to provoke a crisis in the area for the purpose of disrupting the election in the region.

“If anybody is wounded, maimed or killed or any disruption of the elections in the Ogoni area tomorrow, as a result of this evil plots, we will not only hold Rotimi Amaechi, Victor Giadom and Dakuku Peterside responsible, we will declare them persona non grata in Ogoniland”, they vowed.

The body called on the international community, Acting Inspector-General of Police and others to wade in and call these trouble shooters to order.

Amaechi served as governor of Rivers State and his most ferocious critic within the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Magnus Abe is from Ogoni land
